How do I start a profile?

Start your free profile by going to Join For Free on the main page. Once you've completed the short form you'll be sent an email that'll ask you to confirm your email address. Follow the instructions in that email and you'll be online in no time.
Do you send an account activation - confirmation email?

PLEASE READ ENTIRELY
1. When you signed up an Email was generated and sent to the Email Address you provided.
2. Check your spam or trash folder for your confirmation Email.
3. Click on the confirmation code or enter the code into the site you joined.
4. Due to legal reasons we can not intervene in this process.
5. If your request is not confirmed with 48 hours, your profile will be removed for security reasons.
I have registered. What next?

Log in to the site using either your nickname (or user number) and password. The first page you see once logged in is your profile homepage. On this page are various small components; your current profile picture (if you have one), site statistics, and other summaries. You can return to this page at any time by clicking My Account in the upper menu.
How do I get started on Socialpolitan?

Step 1: Create your FREE profile
Creating a profile in Socialpolitan is fast, fun, and easy. You can disclose as much or as little information about yourself as you want. Socialpolitan will always keep your personal information private and confidential. We will only show what you choose to share. You can even post pictures of yourself to add to the fun - ALL FREE!
Step 2: Invite your friends
Let the party begin! Once you have your profile up and running, start inviting your friends to join in on the fun. By building your personal network, you can start expanding your circle of friends exponentially. Encourage your friends to invite their friends. Remember, creating a profile is completely free.
Step 3: View your friends' profiles... and their friends' profiles
Start viewing your friends' profiles. Learn their interests, read their online journals, and view their pictures. Browse through everyone's "Friends List" and see whom you are connected to. You'll be amazed at all the interesting people you are associated with through networks of mutual friends!
Step 4: Browse and search other profiles
Want to see who you are connected to through your network of mutual friends? Simply use the Browse feature to find people in your Personal Network using many various criteria, such as age, interests, location, and more! Or, use the Search feature to scour the entire Socialpolitan Network of Members to find exactly whom you're looking for!
Step 5: Contact your friends or make new friends
Email any user. If you find a person you wish to communicate with, use our messaging system for instant contact. Your email and personal information will always be protected.
Step 6: Have fun!
What will get me in trouble with my account?
- Anything that compromises our service and/or is detrimental to members.
- Registering more than 1 account.
- Spamming forums with self promotion where it's not allowed.
- Spamming member's pages with comments of self promotion.
- Repeating the same self promotion over and over throughout the site. Pick the best location to promote your business.
- Spamming to get people to your page.

What is Socialpolitan's desktop?

Socialpolitan's desktop redefines the way online communities work. Now, members can stay connected, receive messages, talk privately and chat with other members anytime - even if you're not on the site. With audio and video!
Where is Socialpolitan's desktop download located?

Premium members can download it in Web Presence window.(You must be a premium or promotional member to use it.)
How do I upload or change my profile photo?
-
Log in to the site using either your nickname (or user number) and password. Click on the the (empty) picture box to access My Photo Gallery. To upload a photo, enter a description (you can just put a number if you like), use the Browse button to find the relevant file on your computer, then click the Submit button.
Once uploaded the picture will appear in one of the twenty spaces below the main box. To make one of these your primary photo, click on it in the row and it'll appear in the main box. Click the Make Primary button and it'll become your main photo on your profile. Click My Account in the upper menu to return to your profile homepage.
Click My Profile in the upper menu to see your profile as others will see it.
Difference gallery / profile image?

Your profile image is shown along with your profile. Your choosen default image is shown through the site when ever you post anything to our site, such as Blog, messages, IM, Gallery, files, videos, comments, in guest books.
Gallery Your galley is not associated with the mention items above, although your gallery does appear within your profile for others to view.
How do I use A/V Instant Massager?

1.Go to My Account
2. Click on My Presence (Your pop-up blockers should be off, because this will open in a separate window. If the window is not popping up, hold down the CTRL button on your keyboard and then the link. These will temporary turn off your pop-up blocker.)
3. Choose a member to instant massage.
What is a tag?

Tags are similar to key words, they should reflect key things about you or your ad. However, instead of using a comma, to separate your tags use a space between words. Please use 5 or less words to describe you or your ad, such as: Friends Networking Dating Richmond Va
Does the Socialpolitan Toolbar conflict with my browser or other add-ons?

No, the Socialpolitan Toolbar is designed to run without affecting any other system add-ons.
How can I add a friend to my network?
-
Once you are logged in, search for your friend, click on friends profile and click befriend. A befriend request will be sent to them. Once they have accepted they will instantly be placed in your network.
I want to create a group but the category isn't there. How can I add a new category?
-
If you don't see the category for a group you would like to create simply contact us Here or Administration and we'd be more than willing to add the group category. The same applies for classifieds and forums.
Are we allowed to place advertisements here?
-
Yes, you can place advertisements in your blogs, on your profiles, in classifieds ads and on the forums where there is a Professional Services and Advertisements category. Please do not spam this community with advertisements elsewhere. I have provided ample space for advertisements please respect this community by not spamming it. Also read Terms of Use.
This is the only warning that will be given. Spammers profiles will be deleted without notice.
Which web browser do you recommend?

We recommend you use Firefox web browser. Our site WILL NOT display properly with IE (Internet Explore) and
for security reasons also, IE is NOT recommended.

Also, Firefox has a built in real time spell check feature, which underlines misspelled words in red. Hover over the word, "left click" and suggestions will appear.
My Account
- Click My Account in the upper menu to return to your profile homepage.
- Click My Settings to change any of the text in the form you filled in when you first registered.
- Click My Contacts to see a summary of all the people you've contacted, and the ways in which you have interacted with them.
Reading Mail
- Click My Mail in the upper menu to access your inbox.
- If have any messages in your inbox click on the subject to read the message. The message will display along with the sender's summary details.
- Click Reply to send a reply.
- Click Report as Spam to send a message to the administrators notifying them that the message is spam.
- Click Delete to permanently erase the message. Deleted messages cannot be retrieved.
Composing & Sending Mail
- Click My Mail in the upper menu to access your inbox.
- Click Write to compose a new message, or read a message then click Reply.
- Type in a subject for your message, then compose the message in the main box. Use the tools on the box menu to enhance your message, or just type in plain text.
- By default a copy of the message will be sent to the receiver's Six Community inbox and to their personal email.
- You can use the options under the message composition box to send the message to either the inbox, or the personal email (instead of both).
Mail Options
- Click My Mail in the upper menu to access your inbox.
- Click Blocked to review any members you have blocked from contacting you.
- Click Sent to review all sent messages.
- Click Inbox to access your inbox.
- Click Blocked Me to see if anyone has blocked you from contacting them.
Preview Your Profile
- Click My Profile in the upper menu to preview your profile. Your profile will display as others will see it.
My Presence
- Click My Presence. A small pop-up window will load containing a list of your friends and their current status. This is a handy way of seeing which of your friends are online.
Log Out
- Click Log Out to log out of the site. We stronly advise all users to log out this way particularly when using shared computers. Log out in this way rather than closing your browser window.
Member Menu
- Click the Members button to access the Member menu. A selection of current members will display.
- Click Online to see all members currently online.
- Click Search to search for members using a variety of criteria.
- Click My Friends to review those members you have selected as friends.
Blogs
- Click the Blog button to access the Blog menu.
- Click All Blogs to view a selection of all current blogs.
- Click Top Blogs to view those blogs with the highest rating.
- Click Top Posts to view those blog posts with the highest rating.
- Click My Blog to view your own blog. You can create a blog from here too.
- Click Add Category to add a new category to your blog.
- Click Add Post to add a new post to one of your blogs in the chosen category.
Photos
- Click the Photos button to access the Photos menu.
- Click All Photos to view a selection of all current photos
- Click Upload Photos to add your own photos. You will be required to read and agree to the photo upload terms.
- Click the I Agree button to proceed.
- Use the Browse button to select the file on your computer.
- Enter a title, a short description, and some tags (keywords).
- When you're ready, click the Upload File button. The file will now be uploaded.
- Please be patient; if the file is large this may take a few seconds or more. If the upload fails, try reducing the image size using a suitable graphics utility on your computer.
- Your new photo may not be visible to other members immediately if the administrators are checking all uploads for appropriate content so check it again in a few hours.
- Click My Photo Gallery to review photos you've uploaded.
- Click My Favorite Photos to review photos you've rated.
- Click Top Photos to review the photos with the highest ratings by other members.
Videos
- Click the Videos button to access the Videos menu.
- Click All Videos to view a selection of all current videos
- Click Upload Videos to add your own video. You will be required to read and agree to the video upload terms.
- Click the I Agree button to proceed.
- Use the Browse button to select the file on your computer.
- Enter a title, a short description, and some tags (keywords).
- When you're ready, click the Upload File button. The file will now be uploaded.
- Please be patient; if the file is large this may take a few seconds or more. The video file upload size limit is 9MB per file.
- Your new video may not be visible to other members immediately if the administrators are checking all uploads for appropriate content so check it again in a few hours.
- Click My Video Gallery to review videos you've uploaded.
- Click My Favorite Videos to review videos you've rated.
- Click Top Videos to review the videos with the highest ratings by other members.
Sound & Music
- Click the Music button to access the music/sound menu.
- Click All Music to view a selection of all current music/sound.
- Click Upload Music to add your own MP3 music/sound. You will be required to read and agree to the music/sound upload terms.
- Click the I Agree button to proceed.
- Use the Browse button to select the file on your computer.
- Enter a title, a short description, and some tags (keywords).
- When you're ready, click the Upload File button. The file will now be uploaded.
- Please be patient; if the file is large this may take a few seconds or more. The music/sound file upload size limit is 6MB per file.
- Your new music/sound may not be accessible to other members immediately if the administrators are checking all uploads for appropriate content so check it again in a few hours.
- Click My Music Gallery to review music/sound you've uploaded.
- Click My Favorite Music to review music/sound you've rated.
- Click Top Music to review the music/sound with the highest ratings by other members.
Groups
- Click the Groups button to access the groups menu.
- Groups are sorted into categories. Each category is listed along with the number of groups within that category.
- Click on any category to browse the groups it contains.
- Click Search to search for groups by keyword, category, country, or city.
- Click My Groups to view any groups you've created yourself.
- Click Create Group to create a new group. Complete all the fields and spend a few minutes composing a summary description of the group. Use the toolbar menu to enhance the appearance of the description. Upload a graphic or picture to represent your group.
Classifieds
- Click the Classifieds button to view the classifieds menu.
- Classified ads are sorted into categories. Each category is listed along with the number of groups within that category.
- Click on any category to browse the ads it contains.
- Click Search to search for ads by category, country, or keyword.
- Click My Classfieds to view any ads you've added.
- Click Add Classified to add a new advert. Make sure you complete all fields, and upload a small image of the item for sale.
Events
- Click the Events button to access the events menu.
- Click All Events to review all the currently listed events.
- Click Calendar to view events summarised by month and country on the calendar.
- Click Search to search for events by country.
- Click My Events to view any events you have added. You can edit forthcoming events, or delete passed events.
- Click Add Event to add a new event. Fill out all the boxes with the appropriate content and please make sure the main box is completed with an easy to read summary of the event. Use the box editor to enhance the display of the content.
Polls
- Click the Polls button to access the polls menu.
- A selection of current active polls will display.
- Hold your cursor over the poll title to view the title scroll by.
- Click My Polls to view, edit, or create a poll of your own.
Articles
- Click the Articles button to access the articles menu.
- Articles are sorted into categories. Click on the category heading to view any articles contained therein.
- Socialpolitain.org encourages members to submit articles for publication. Articles can be on any subject of your chosing.
- If you would like to submit an article for publication in the Admin articles section please send your article in Word or RTF format.
- Articles should be a minimum of 400 and 1,000 words long.
- Please proof read your article and use correct grammar and punctuation.
- Please avoid excessive use of block capitals and URLs.
- Please submit your articles to us by clicking here or post your articles to Member's Articles section.
